Percentile estimate

GAMSAT percentile calculator

An overall of 60 is estimated at about the 66th percentile — around typical.

ACER publishes no percentile table. Every percentile on this page is our own estimate, not an official figure. Not affiliated with ACER.

Not saved to any account — the score only travels in this page's address.

Have your three section scores?

Enter all three and the overall is computed the way it is weighted — Section III counts double — and the beam below draws it.

How this estimate is made

What the estimate is, and what it is not

GAMSAT results are reported on a 0–100 scale, and they cluster: over 95% of candidates score between 40 and 80. ACER publishes neither the raw-to-scale formula nor a score-to-percentile table, so nobody outside ACER can tell you your exact standing.

The figures here come from one in-house map, the same one this platform shows on every result screen, built from community-compiled score reports rather than from any ACER publication. It is an ordinal orientation for goal-setting: it will tell you whether a target is near the middle of the room or near its top edge, and it will not tell you your position in a particular sitting. Cohorts differ, and the scale is re-equated each time.

A band on the strip above is orientation, not a verdict: cut-offs are set by each year's applicant pool, and a score that clears one program's published floor can sit under another's in the same sitting.

We publish no cut-offs of our own. Where a number matters — a program's published floor — it is quoted from that program's own page, with the date it was read, on GAMSAT scores for medicine.

Questions about GAMSAT percentiles

What percentile is a GAMSAT score of 65?

On the estimate this calculator uses, 65 sits around the 82nd percentile — competitive. ACER publishes no score-to-percentile table, so that is our own estimate rather than an official figure, and the real position moves with each sitting's cohort.

What is the average GAMSAT score?

ACER publishes no official average. Scores are reported on a 0-100 scale and over 95% of candidates score between 40 and 80; community-compiled estimates put the typical overall in the high 50s. On the estimate used here, 58 sits around the 58th percentile.

Does ACER publish GAMSAT percentiles?

No. ACER reports your section scores and your overall, and it publishes neither a percentile table nor the raw-to-scale formula behind them. Any percentile you see for the GAMSAT — here or anywhere else — is somebody's estimate. Ours comes from one published map, shown on every screen that uses it.

Is 60 a good GAMSAT score?

A 60 is estimated at around the 66th percentile, which reads as around typical. Whether it is enough depends entirely on the programs you apply to: each publishes its own floors, they combine your score with a GPA and an interview, and competitive cut-offs move every year with the applicant pool.

How is the overall GAMSAT score calculated?

Your overall is a weighted average in which Section III counts double: (Section I + Section II + 2 x Section III) / 4. A few universities recompute an unweighted mean of the three sections instead, so the same sitting can read several points apart from one school to the next.
