GAMSAT scores for medicine — every program's published requirements

All 32 graduate-entry medicine programs across Australia, Ireland and the UK for 2027 entry — including the ones that skip the GAMSAT entirely — with the published minimums to apply, how each school actually reads your score, and every prior-year average or reference cut-off the school itself has released.

What this table does — and does not — contain

  • Only numbers an official page publishes. Every minimum, weighting and reference figure below appears on a GEMSAS, CAO, UCAS or university page, and each program links its sources.
  • No invented cut-offs. Schools set competitive interview/offer cut-offs each year from the applicant pool and mostly don't publish them — so you won't find a guessed “score you need” here. Where a school publishes an average of interviewed or offered applicants, or a past year's cut-off, it's labelled exactly as that: a reference to a past pool, never a threshold, guarantee or prediction.
  • No fake statistics. ACER publishes no score-to-percentile table and no official “average GAMSAT”, so this page asserts neither. Published minimums are floors to apply — meeting them does not mean an interview or an offer.

GAMSAT® is a registered trademark of ACER, which is not affiliated with and does not endorse this site. Requirements change — always confirm on the official pages linked under each program before applying.

Australia · 13 programs

Most Australian graduate-entry programs recruit through GEMSAS and rank on a GPA + GAMSAT combination for interview. Published floors are typically GPA 5.0 and 50 per GAMSAT section — but how the GAMSAT overall is read (weighted vs unweighted) and how the GPA is calculated differ school by school. Only Flinders publishes actual prior-year GAMSAT interview cut-offs; Monash — which doesn't use the GAMSAT — publishes prior-year WAM cut-offs instead.

Worth knowing

  • Reads the UNWEIGHTED GAMSAT (an equal average of the three sections — Sciences is NOT doubled).
  • Uses one credit-weighted GPA over the whole key degree, not the standard 1:2:3 year weighting.

The most varied region: the same GAMSAT score is used four different ways — as a straight ranking tool, as published minimums before interview, blended with the interview, or as a pass/fail gate while UCAT ranks. Most UK schools set the actual cut-off after the deadline from the applicant pool and do not publish it; the exceptions that publish historical figures are shown per program.

How it reads the GAMSAT
Unweighted average of the three sections — Sciences is NOT doubled
Selection model
Published minimums to be considered, then the interview decides
Degree requirement
2:2 honours (any discipline) + GCSE maths grade 6/B — 2026 entry; rises to 2:1 (or 2:2 + Merit taught masters) from 2027 entry

Per-section minimums to be considered for interview; no fixed overall threshold (it varies with the applicant pool). Ranks on its own unweighted mean of the three sections — not ACER's weighted overall — using the best sitting from the last two years.

Published minimums to apply (floors — not competitive cut-offs)

No numeric GAMSAT or GPA minimum is published — selection works as described above.

Published section rule: 55 in the Written section; 55 in either Humanities or Sciences; 50 in the remaining section

Worth knowing

  • Reads the GAMSAT differently — per-section minimums, ranked on its own unweighted mean (not ACER's weighted overall).
  • No fixed overall cut-off is published.
  • Degree floor rises for 2027 entry (2:1, or 2:2 + Merit taught masters).

Common questions

Do universities publish GAMSAT cut-offs?

Mostly no. Nearly every school sets its competitive interview and offer cut-offs each year from the applicant pool and does not publish them in advance. What schools do publish are minimums to apply (floors, typically 50 per section in Australia) and, in some cases, retrospective references: Flinders publishes prior-year interview cut-offs by sub-quota, Ireland's CAO publishes each year's actual offer cut-offs, and City St George's and Plymouth publish historical thresholds. Those are references to past applicant pools — not guarantees for the next cycle.

Is the GAMSAT weighted the same everywhere?

No. Some programs use ACER's printed overall, which double-weights the Sciences section — for example UWA, Deakin, Griffith, ANU and all four Irish GEM schools. Others use an unweighted average of the three sections — UQ, Melbourne, both Notre Dame campuses and Nottingham. Sydney ranks on the three section scores separately, Wollongong uses the GAMSAT only as an eligibility hurdle, and at Keele, Chester and Sunderland it is a pass/fail gate while UCAT or other factors do the ranking. The same score can read very differently at two schools.

What GAMSAT score do I need for medicine in Australia?

There is no single published answer. The published minimums to apply range from 50 in each section (most schools) up to UWA's 55 overall with GPA 5.5 — but these are floors to be eligible, not competitive cut-offs, which schools set yearly and do not publish. Where schools publish what real applicants scored, the references sit well above the floors: UQ's 2023–2025 offered applicants averaged 65.33 (unweighted), Notre Dame Sydney's 2026 interviewed applicants averaged 68.23, UWA's averaged 68.53, and Flinders' 2026 interview cut-offs ranged 56–74 depending on sub-quota.

Does graduate medicine in Ireland interview applicants?

Not on the EU route. RCSI, UCC, UCD and Limerick rank EU applicants on the GAMSAT overall score alone once they hold a 2H1 honours degree — there is no interview. The CAO publishes the actual offer cut-offs each year: in 2025 they were 58 (RCSI), 59 (UCD), 57 (UCC) and 53 (Limerick). These are demand-driven and change yearly, so past cut-offs are references, not thresholds.
